Khadija Lewis Khan
Executive Director, Beautiful Beginnings
Khadija has been Executive Director at Beautiful Beginnings since it opened in 1999. She has a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Rhode Island teacher certification in Early Childhood Education. Khadija says: “It is exciting to work with children in their early years because the foundation that they build here supports them to be curious, confident and excited learners as they progress in life.”
Lauri Smalls
Executive Director, Turning The Corner
Lauri holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Virginia University at Lynchburg. She has twenty years of experience in the delivery of human services. She is certified as a trainer from the National Resource Center for Youth Services, from the University of Oklahoma, a certified trainer for Handle With Care* Behavior Management System and a certified Efforts to Outcomes* Administrator.
Denise Toppins
Human Resource Manager
Denise is responsible for representing the Corporation at local unemployment hearings, providing responses to employment inquiries, reviewing résumés, reviewing applications, interviewing potential employees and completing reference checks. She attended Adelphi Business College and Tidewater Community College, studying Business Administration. She brings to Jammat her many years of experience in office management and employment practices. Her knowledge of management systems, customer relations and human resources has help the Corporation to advance its mission and vision.
